Juxtaposing the grandness of the piano with the derelict environment around it, this musical image hints at memories of good times and the life once led in the building. Hakker has captured the beautiful in an otherwise run down environment, highlighting the visual power of both nature and time's affect on man's environment. Matthias Haker is a self taught photographer who specialises in shooting abandoned buildings, but just don't ask him where they are. "I do love abandoned buildings, I see so much beauty in those places, but there are too many idiots out there that don't behave like me. I've seen so much vandalism, theft and other bad things happening to those buildings, that I will do all I can to protect these beauties. Therefore I don't give any information about the location, not even the country...since every little piece of information makes it easier for people to find them. No exceptions."
Matthias has been working as a professional freelance and fine art photographer since 2012.
He specializes in architectural, landscape and urban topics as well as the photography of decaying buildings. Matthias' images have appeared in various magazines around the world and have been shown in exhibitions in London, Berlin and Paris.
