Clematis is a Greek word that means "a climbing plant". The clematis symbolizes ingenuity or artifice, mental beauty, and poverty. Clematis is also known as "Traveller's Joy" in other countries such as Russia and Bulgaria. Japanese garden selections were the first exotic clematises to reach European gardens, in the 18th century.
The stunning centre of a Clematis, this shot was taken in Lossenham Manor, Newenden, Kent, UK.

Jasper Dalgliesh

Born in London and having lived in Singapore and Belgium as well as the UK, Jasper Dalgliesh has been travelling the world taking photographs for over 30 years and his work covers a wide range of subjects. His prime aim is for the creative pleasure and whilst there is always a need for an artistic eye and ability, he believes that ‘being in the right place, at the right time – with a camera!’ is the most important factor. His first camera was an Olympus OM1 followed by a series of Minolta cameras.   Since the advent of digital, he switched to Canon.   Jasper spent 11 years in the British Army with the Household Cavalry Regiment and trained as a reconnaissance helicopter pilot with the Army Air Corps. Flying allowed him to shoot from some stunning advantage points as well as worldwide travel. He flew in the UK, Belize, Canada and across Europe.
