"Sie Kommen" is one of the most iconic Newton images. It adorned his exhibitions in near life-size, providing a sculptural statement of Newton's fascination for strong yet beautiful woman. Life-sized versions of this photograph featured in Newton's "Private Property" Exhibitions in London and Paris and both of the pair, naked and dressed, photographs appear in Newton's famous book, Sumo, as well as several others. The pair we have available are each on sheet sized 24" x 20" with an image size of 19" x 19.25". Framed with our recommended 3.5" double mount in a 1" profile frame, the result is each measuring around 29" x 29" square and when paired and hung together, make a really impressive diptych of over 6ft wide. Printed in or around 1984, this vintage photograph was one of several that Newton gave or sold to friends and acquaintances. Most were discarded or destroyed over time. This particular picture was given to an acquaintance in France around the time of Newton’s Private Property Exhibitions. It has been acquired for ONGallery from its original owner by Norman Solomon, who knew Helmut very well and who, with John Dunnicliff, produced those Exhibitions Models (L to R): Henriette (cover of Sumo), Lisa Thorensen, Alexandra Pin and Sylvia Gobbel.
