Shot at Island Lake in British Columbia, Darwin focuses his lens on a set of three canoes. The canoes' curved forms give the photograph an abstract quality. One can almost feel the coldness, emphasised by the ice blue coloured canoes, water dripping off them and thick, foggy cloud. Darwin is one of Canada's best known photographers and is the winner of the prestigious Travel Photographer of the Year in 2008. Darwin lives in Canada's Rocky Mountains, the scene for much of his work.

I could give you a giant bio and artist statement but who really cares?

The short version is this: I love to take photos and have been doing so for over 25 years – it is a great job and a wonderful lifestyle. So far it is the best work I have come across for my personality (unless I figure out how to get paid to eat pizza and drink beer). Recently I have partnered with my life and work mate, Samantha and we have created oopoomoo where we tell our stories of the quest for the happy life. We are passionate about teaching the art of photography and conduct photographic workshops with an emphasis on developing creativity.

Oh, in 2008 I was lucky enough to have been awarded The Travel Photographer of The Year.
