Part of Haker's exploration of the world's staircases, here he turns to a view through an abandoned Victorian stairwell reaching up many floors to a beautifully stuccoed ceiling. Warm beiges and richer reds spiral together to present an image of romantic charm set in a bygone era. Matthias is a self taught photographer who specialises in shooting abandoned buildings, but just don't ask him where they are. "I do love abandoned buildings, I see so much beauty in those places, but there are too many idiots out there that don't behave like me. I've seen so much vandalism, theft and other bad things happening to those buildings, that I will do all I can to protect these beauties. Therefore I don't give any information about the location, not even the country...since every little piece of information makes it easier for people to find them. No exceptions."
