Pompeo Posar

Italian born Pompeo was born in Trieste in 1921 and had one of those really tough jobs as a Playboy magazine staff photographer. He got his start shooting black and white images of Hugh Hefner for his TV show “Playboy’s Penthouse”, leading to Hef hiring him as Playboy’s staff photographer in 1962. Known simply by his colleagues at Playboy as “The Master”, Pompeo shot countless centerfold features and Playmates of The Month on an old Deardorff camera he used to call Fred. Pompeo died in 2004.
