Striving to describe with light, the shared moments of human-kind’s lives... Jacques Pion is a freelance photographer who trained at the Ecole Nationale Louis Lumière (1983). He is particularly interested in humanitarian and societal issues.
At the heart of his approach is a close connection and dialogue with his subjects. Each of his photographs is the result of a meeting or an immersion period in which he tries to absorb the life and the circumstances of the people he meets.
He has a strong empathy that is expressed both through his choice of subjects and in his intimate, direct and intense portrait work. It is especially through his publications and exhibitions that we are able to feel the intensity of his connection to his subjects.
He received the title of the Best Portrait of the Year 2013 award with a photograph from his series, "African Visions" and the Best Achitectural Photo of the Year 2015.
