Twenty one year old Felicia Simion is presently completing the Final Year of her BA Photography, studying at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Romania. She began exploring photography when she was about 13, and started winning international competitions and awards from the age of 16. Every month, the list of worldwide prestigious prizes and accolades, or her work featuring in exhibitions around the world, in popular international magazines, widely read blogs and online interviews, grows longer.
To date, Felicia Simion has received over 82,900+ Facebook Likes and has 6,500+ followers on Instagram. Her DeviantART pages have logged over 2,750,000 page views and 43,800 comments. In April, 2014 Felicia was chosen by the best selling US Magazine, Popular Photography, as one of only Five Young Photographers Worldwide under the age of 20, to look out for in the future. That same August, for the online popularity of her work, Felicia was counted by New York Defrozo Photography Blog, as one of the 15 most successful photographers worldwide, under the age of 25. Canson Infinity ink jet paper manufacturers have made Felicia their youngest ever ‘Canson Ambassador’ on their Website Gallery and use her work in their exhibitions worldwide, placing her on equal terms to a list of some of Europe’s other finest photographers. In May 2015 Felicia became one of the youngest ever photographers to be awarded an Associate Distinction from the Royal Photographic Society. (ARPS)
Felicia’s first International Solo Gallery Exhibition of printed images, which also launched her new book, "In the Pursuit of Light" was at the R.K. Burt Gallery, London Bridge, in September 2014.
Among those attending the Private View was Terence Pepper (Hon FRPS) until recently Senior Curator of Photographs at National Portrait Gallery, London and Chair of Judges of the prestigious Taylor Wessing Portrait Awards.
In late October 2014, Felicia was among only four ‘Young Talent’ Photographers worldwide, awarded an exhibition space at ‘La Quatrieme Image’ event, part of the launch of Paris Photo-month, showing “The Playground”, a totally different set of images to London, only a month before. Over the past year, she has won 1st prize in categories of both the very prestigious International Photography Awards (IPA) and also Moscow Foto, each against worldwide competition. She also won a Commended Award for international Travel Photographer of the Year for her photo-essay of ‘People of the Bluebell’ featuring staff and visitors to the Heritage Railway in Sussex.
Among her most recent interviews Felicia has been featured by Der Spiegel Online and by the editor of National Geographic Magazine. In January 2016, Felicia was selected by the very prestigious PhotoBoite as one of “30 Women Photographers under 30” selected worldwide. Felicia has also recently had some of her award winning images selected by ONGallery and is excited to find her work in the company of so many very famous photographers. She has always considered herself an artist since she was 14 and is delighted that some of her beautiful images will appear as prints in people’s homes and businesses.
